One of the beautiful things about life is that every once in a while you come into a situation where you want to and have to reach down and prove something. Most people can motivate themselves to do things simply by knowing that those things need to be done. However once in a while it goes beyond that, and you really need to dig deep. I think taking risks, like starting a small business is very much one of those instances.
There is often a sense of self-doubt and anxiety when venturing into the world of entrepreneurship. The start-up period is especially taxing as the pressures of not having a steady income, the hustle for customer acquisition and retention, product line expansion, registering with the relevant bureaucracies, building business infrastructure, financing services (like this website) and new equipment and everyday life, build very quickly. It's not easy. But it’s easier to overcome these challenges when perusing a passion; in my case it’s a passion for the craft of working with wood and creating functional art. It’s what gets me out of bed in the morning, and keeps me up late at night. Everyday I strive to learn new skills and master old ones. This drive and the opportunity to create beauty makes the mundane phone calls, the excel spreadsheets, and the other less glamorous aspects of entrepreneurship worth it!
Another thing that makes it much easier is having someone who believes in you. Without the love and support of my beautiful wife Astrid, none of this would be possible. It’s taken me months of hard work and preparation to get this far and if it weren’t for her, I would not of made it to launch.
I'm very excited to launch my website, so without further ado, it's time to roll the bones.
